Important Scholarship Information for High School Seniors
Merit-based Scholarship Programs
Grand Valley State University offers outstanding merit-based scholarship programs. For example, all Michigan High School graduates entering GVSU with a grade point average of 3.3 or higher are eligible for a $1000/year Laker Scholarship. Larger awards are available to students with higher GPAs and high ACT/SAT scores. In addition to a generous array of academic scholarships and awards based on financial need, 音乐系, 剧院, and Dance annually awards talent scholarships to students who show exceptional talent as performers and composers. Music scholarships are awarded on the basis of achievement and potential in music performance (by audition) and 作文 (portfolio).

The Grand Valley State University Trombone Studio has been under the direction of Dr. R标志. Williams since the Fall of 2008. The trombone studio is composed of students who share a common interest in improving their skills as trombonists. All of the students perform in the GVSU 长号合奏 which presents concerts annually. Studio members also perform in Grand Valley's large ensembles and present solo recitals and chamber music performances. In addition, master classes and recitals are performed for students by guest trombone artists. Many students also participate in the 大急流城 Symphony Student Passport program which allows them to purchase low-cost tickets to concerts by the 大急流城 Symphony, one of the finest orchestras in the United States.

The department offers curricula leading to three undergraduate music degrees: Bachelor of Arts, 音乐学士, and 音乐学士 Education. Accessible by free bus transportation from the Allendale campus, 大急流城 is the second largest city in the state of Michigan. It has a wealth of cultural opportunities, including the 大急流城 Symphony Orchestra, 大急流城歌剧院, and the 大急流城 Ballet Company. The downtown area is home to four outstanding museums, including the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and the 大急流城 Art Museum. 弗雷德里克·梅杰花园 & 雕塑公园, one of the leading botanical gardens in the world, is just a short drive northeast of the downtown. The downtown also features over 60 restaurants and a thriving entertainment district. 大急流城 also hosts the ArtPrize international art competition which draws artists from around the world.
